At the same time as a juvenile of just a few inches in duration, they are able to swallow lots of the more common aquarium fish (which include tetras or guppies), and it is just acceptable to house this fish with other species of comparatively large dimension. Redtail catfish also have a practice of swallowing inedible objects within the aquarium.
